here’s a little more… within 5 minutes of leaving the m6 at junction 36 you will find the quiet village of holme, tucked in beside the lancaster canal. the view of farleton fell, from the motorway, is the landmark that let’s you know you’re almost here. alfred wainwright, in his book westmorland heritage, refers to holme as ‘a wayside village on the old north road’. it is there on north road that you will find tythebarn house. originally a westmorland stone barn, this charming b&b has a real cottage atmosphere. with only one guest room, you are sure to be well looked after. guests say “vic and diana welcome you as a guest, and you leave as a friend.” guests comment on diana’s attention to detail – the welcoming cup of tea with home-made scones and the comfort of your guest room, made-up to your requirements as a single, twin or super- king. there are fluffy bath robes to curl up in too. there’s a choice when it comes to breakfast catering for yourself in your own little kitchen. light a respite from everyday life will leave you rested and relaxed. for a longer stay the lake district, yorkshire dales, arnside & silverdale aonb and wildlife haven of the morecambe bay area are all within easy reach. birders love to visit leighton moss and morecambe bay. walkers are keen to explore the limestone link, westmorland way and wainwright’s way and amblers are surprised to discover the lancaster canal, steps from our door. last but not least, cyclists welcome a stop off halfway to john o’groates, for a breather and to top up on porridge. “we love meeting new people and introducing
